What A Relief: Compression Socks

by on May 23, 2011

A current fashion must have for this season is the illusive ‘over-the-knee’ sock, a statement that has recently been seen strutting up and down the catwalk. But why should pregnancy prevent us all from being slaves to the latest fashion trends?  Worry no more, as the stylish equivalent to over-the-knee socks come in the form of ‘compression socks’, which greatly aid the expecting mother.

Compression socks are designed to increase the blood circulation in the feet, ankles and thighs by providing graduated pressure on the foot and lower leg to alleviate and prevent circulatory problems, such as deep vein thrombosis. These helpful socks compress the surface veins of the ankles, legs and feet and force the circulating blood through narrower circulatory channels, resulting in more blood returning to the heart due to the increased arterial pressure.

Boob has created ‘Relief Socks’, which help to prevent fluid retention in the lower leg when standing or sitting. As pregnancy greatly restricts any type of strenuous activity and movement, the threat of fluid retention and low circulation is at its height and therefore it is essential to aid and ease this painful pregnancy side effect. ‘Relief Socks’ provide instant relief and support for tired legs and swollen feet and, lets be honest, we could all do with a little relief every now and again, couldn’t we?
