How to wear your colours

BLOCK COLOURS

One of the key trends this season is block colours that are bright and bold. Make the most of this trend – brighten up your wardrobe for the summer and stand out. If you are going to wear a one key colour piece, a bright coloured skirt for example, it is best to team it with a white piece in order to make it stand out that extra bit and we all know, with too many different bright colours an outfit can go from looking on trend to just a little bit crazy. We’re aware block colours can be daunting and tricky to pull off, but the highstreet is mad for it at the moment and it’s set to be huge this summer so we think the best thing to do is embrace it!

TONE ON TONE

Another key trend that involves careful use of different colours is ‘tone on tone’. This involves choosing one tone of colour, for example light blue and layering it up with pieces and different textures. The important thing to remember here is that subtle tones work best, if you were going to complete an outfit with just light blue, make sure to stick to that and do not mix it with a colour like navy. This look is great and is sure to ensure you stay looking stylish this spring/summer.

MIXING COLOUR WITH PRINT

Teaming a block colour piece with a print design is trickiest, as stated before an easy white works best but this trend can also work and it is one for the most confident stylists. Wear plain, non detailed styles for example a plain block coloured t-shirt with a simple skirt print design to get it right. As this style is all about colour, there is no importance on layering of different textures or fancy materials. The block/print combination will ensure you stand out on it’s own! At the moment there’s lots of great and zany printed leggings on the highstreet, which teamed with the right coloured block colour t-shirt can create an enviable, quirky look.
